Walk for Psoriasis Awareness -- San Francisco

I am happy as we (SF Support group) achieved our goal of raising $25,000 and + some for the 1st Walk for Psoriasis Awareness in San Francisco. I was happy to see people turn up and help with the set up and the running of the walk.

I was disappointed on two fronts. I was busy marking the walk for 1 hour and did not get a chance to set up the table for psoCool and as such people did not get a chance to see the clothing I had in the bag.

The second thing that was weird was that I had received a lot of encouragement from folks and some of them had shown interest in my 1 on 1 with them in the past. The same folks did not even come and look at the clothing line. I am not forcing anyone to buy but the encouragement words were quite like, "I would love to get my hands on these items, let us know when they are in".

I guess this is the reality of doing business. I did sell one Kurti and one pant and that will help pay for the photography cost and hopefully I will have a website to show off.

I believe I made a mistake by becoming a sponsor and helping with the organizing of the event. There was too much to do on the day of the event let alone days leading up to it. Next year I have to pick one.

For now, the plan is to proceed as planned and do some marketing.

Congrats to the SF Walk Committee, we kicked arse.

Mannequin or live model

I have been debating on what to do with the website. The clothing line needs to be presented well and as such I need to have the pants and tops displayed in their entirety.

Should I use Mannequin or should I use live models?
Cost certainly plays a part in this and I could certainly model for my own clothing line.

Mannequin is another option. I have to decide fast as I need to get the website going.

Finally, Have the logo finished.

Thanks F. for making this happen. I am happy with the logo and the color choices.

Time to start working on the basic website layout and move the blog to a link on the website. Launch is about a month away.

New Logo

While it takes a lot to start a venture, the creative work is quite demanding and often ignored. This time around I want to get the logo done and F has been a great help.

I actually like the font and the color choices. The only detail I am trying to fight with is the color of "pso", I wanted a color that is insignificant. I still like the light grey.

I will discuss this with the graphics dude when I get back.

I am super excited about this, thanks for bringing this this far.

You don't have Psoriasis

I recently had the honour of meeting Dr. Vaz in Bombay and she is an amazing doctor. She is a lot of disciplines all rolled into one.

She talked to me for at least 25-30 mins. She listened to me.
She knew my personality traits by just listening to me. One of the major takeaways I took from meeting her is that I should continue to do Yoga. Mind over matter and that my mind can take away my skin problem.

Being positive is the first step, One has to think that they do not have a skin problem. This is a fundamental shift in how one should think. I have to train myself into thinking that way and I know for me, it will not be a big shift. Since, I don't really have a problem.

The big lessons learned is that I should not eat meals late at night, eat more fruits and vegetables and get good sleep.

So, for those of you who are reading this. Don't forget to breathe, take in a lot of fresh oxygen. If you think you have Psoriasis, you actually don't.

Colours and Lost parcel

So, I am in India visiting mom and taking a break from the fast paced life in the US. We have narrowed down the colors for the pants. It is quite a task to choose colors as those are the colors you are selecting on behalf of future customers.

After selecting the colors, I put the sample pants of the colors selected in a box and sent the box to my factory via a courier. The courier guaranteed that the box will get there in 2 days. Well it has been 4 days and the box is MIA.

Mom, being totally calm about it, managed to track the box at a satellite office. The box is not lost and indeed will get to the destination albeit 3 days late.

I was preparing for plan B and that means go to the fabric store and find the colors that I had selected and send them to the factory again.

I am hoping to take some of these pants back with me for the Walk for Psoriasis Awareness. I am optimistic that this is happening for a reason and am confident that we will have something for the Walk.

On a side note, Gogi (Manhar) likes the logo as is and I am also close to the colors selected. I will try and get the logo in the correct font and then I can go with it.

A special thanks to Mom and Mita didi for helping me on this project. It is truly close to my heart and I have a long ways to go.
